We Will Burst

Hang on to our blessed hope, beloved friends.  The Day will come.

We Will Burst

Do we have a better word than burst

For the collision of longing and joy

That will overwhelm our heightened senses

In one magnificent moment

On that day of Glorious Reunion?

When the veil that separates

The Seen from The Unseen

Ruptures and dissolves

Along every seam,

As the triumphant rhapsody

Of that great cloud of witnesses

Cascades and crescendos

Until every corner of the universe

Stops to listen,

Silenced and still,

Before such rapturous bliss,

The likes of which has not been seen or heard.

The running, the shouting,

The riotous collisions

As a people, made well and reunited

Fall into each other’s arms,

Overcome with joyous laughter.

The waiting years will end

And celebration will begin

In one glorious, cataclysmic moment

When He envelops us

All together

In His Holy Embrace.

We will burst into tears and Hallelujahs

For the magnitude of His mercy.

We will burst into cries of gratitude

For all we finally see.

Swept up in eternity’s tide of gladness,

We will simply burst.

“And He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.  And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ And He said, ‘Write,  for these words are faithful and true.'”  Revelation 21:4-5
