If contentment came in

She’d  be an

 Australian Shepherd

Destined to chase

An unruly flock

Of stubborn thoughts

Back into their own pasture

  1. I had never thought of that before, but you are absolutely right! All I need is a mental Australian Shepherd. Why is it that contentment always seems one day away, one thing away, one victory away, one healing away. How I long to be able to sit and just be. content. He has given me all I need for this moment, for this day. I will be grateful for now.

I love these “real world” parallels to the “spiritual and thought worlds” that you draw. They add so much upon which to reflect. And the poem also reminded me of ol’ Stormy, as he was half Australian Shepherd and half Border Collie. What a good dog he was.
